Services

Earthworks Engineering, Inc. provides a wide range of services to assist in the successful upkeep of your construction materials or project business's environmental permitting, as described below.

We provide ongoing storm water planning, monitoring, and sampling services for many clients with facilities located in Massachusetts and surrounding areas, and regularly prepare environmental site assessments for proposed developments.

Environmental Site Assessment

NPDES PERMITTING

The importance of effective storm water pollution control, planning, and management has recently become evident in the US. Storm water runoff is regulated by state and local environmental agencies via the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). EEI specializes in advising clients regarding water quality issues and the NPDES process, and provides assistance with other regulatory permits and environmental compliance issues.

STORM WATER MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING

EEI is a regional leader in providing quality storm water management and planning services throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. EEI has prepared site-specific Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) for numerous companies to address industrial or business activities potentially exposed to precipitation. A typical SWPPP includes a detailed description of the site, relevant onsite materials, drainage patterns, monitoring locations, sampling protocol, and record-keeping procedures. Discharges into storm water drainage systems are identified and recommendations for limiting violations of surface water quality and impacts to receiving waters are provided. In addition, recommendations for implementation and maintenance of best management practices (BMPs) to identify, reduce, and limit discharge of storm water pollutants are provided.

Storm Water Monitoring

STORM WATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING

EEI is able to perform regular site inspections and storm water monitoring to determine compliance with relevant permits. Samples are submitted to a certified environmental testing laboratory within specified hold times. EEI evaulates and summarizes results in a clear letter presented to our clients and required regulatory agencies and provides recommendations for achieving compliance if benchmark standards are exceeded.

SPILL PREVENTION CONTROL AND COUNTERMEASURE PLANS, EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLANS

EEI prepares Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) and Emergency Response plans to present guidelines, procedures, methods, and equipment for the prevention of release of petroleum products to public waters. Site-specific plans establish spill prevention and response guidelines to minimize impact to the environment in the event of an accidental release of petroleum products.
